As most of you noticed I rarely play BF4 anymore, so I might be not the first person to ask for an opinion.
When I join the server with a score of 200 to 700 I try to switch to the losing side, but more often than not, it isn't worth the effort, because switching two the other side frequently breaks up squads of friends, trying to fix that results in more breaking up other squads.
I for my part get frustrated, every time my squad gets decimated that way. I rather loose a match with my friends quickly and then have the auto balancer scramble the teams than unnaturally prolong a already painful match.
The issue that every time you fail, you learn, and can try a different approach, the moment you get balanced to the winning team, the situation flips, and I learn much less.
My usual approach is
An I believe when just me switching drastically changes the match balance, then the match balance was okay before
I wish I was streaming Fortnite when I had my first battle royale victory. I ended up playing in a really good squad where everyone was using VOIP and mine was the final shot. I wish there were enough DEFR members playing Fortnite
